Today’s blog post is going to be a little different, we will be having a interview with a close friend of mine Chaudralyn J’Nae, who is model, business women, student and creative! “ A Diary of A Boujee Black Girl”, is always open to giving the spotlight to young African American women, and their success.

I asked Ms. J’Nae about her experiences in the fashion industry and how it is as a black women and this is what she had to say:

Chaudralyn J’Nae: During my time in the industry, as a fuller built, and taller black women it was very hard to navigate the Eurocentric standards, and trends since they do not cater to our body types and cultures. Im happy have found a safe space for girls like me, to not only practice but to also pass knowledge about the fashion and modeling world.

Reporter (Zoe-Lanese): What are some struggles you have faced personally within the shows you have participated in or applied for?

Chaurdralyn J’Nae: I have personally faced not only negative criticism from both the professional hosting the event /auditions but also even from some of my fellow models. Comments made about my size, or how designers may not be able to accommodate or create designs for me.

Reporter ( Zoe-Lanese): What are some goals you have for the future?

Chaurdralyn J’Nae: I want love to create multiple platform/ companies that are encouraging women to be authentic, creative, and induce a high self esteem! I want to create generational wealth, confidence, and knowledge.

I continued speaking to Ms. J’Nae about her perspective on a lot of things within the industry, and it was good to hear that I was not alone with some many raising concerns within the industry and our people with in it. We both cant wait to see the change within the industry. For example with choosing all models and not the ones within the certain beauty standards. To uplift black designers and not steal their work or ideas. And so many more, be the change and speak up for the change within the industry.

Boujee Tip of The Day : The Boujee(est) thing you can do is, YOU determine how you feel about yourself, rather than letting OTHERS determine it for you.
